Unless the tool has actual scratch marks on the teeth or cuts to the rubber, the tool is new.That said, there is one minor downside to the tool, the bolt holding the two sides together arrived a little loose, and you can’t tighten it much more without making the too hard to use. Instead just put a drop of Loctite or similar on that bolt’s threading and then you have a perfect and dirt cheap oil filter remover.
