For your consideration, we are offering for sale this restored Montblanc Platinum coated LeGrand (146) Meisterstuck Fountain Pen fitted with a fantastic 14K Medium smooth writing Two-Tone nib. This fountain pen has been internally cleaned, put back together, and is now in wonderful writing condition. It is guaranteed to be an authentic Montblanc pen. This Montblanc has the 14K Bi-Color Nib, late plastic feed, two-section barrel construction, and a brass filler mechanism. The cap clip ring banding is stamped, “Germany” on the right side and Serial Number “MV1115753” on the left side. The previous owner purchased this Montblanc 146 in March of 2002. This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, teeth marks, or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the white Snow Cap top, platinum-coated clip, and cap banding which, display absolutely no wear. The cap banding is stamped with, “MONTBLANC MEISTERSTUCK”. The transparency of the ink-view window is “Water Clear”. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the outside of the cap and barrel and cleaned the internal components of this pen. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the barrel or cap. This Montblanc 146 Fountain Pen measures 5 3/4″ in length capped and 6 1/4″ posted. I have taken apart the piston filler to internally clean the pen. Put it back together, sealed the threads, and tested the filling mechanism with water to make sure it fills as it should. The Piston Filling System works as it was designed to and smoothly. The Montblanc NIB is an 14K Bi-Color Medium Nib. The 14K Montblanc NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .82mm when measured with digital calipers. When creating a writing sample, the NIB writes with a very smooth medium to broad stroke/line. The writing sample in the image has the medium stroke measuring at .72mm and the broad stroke measuring roughly 1.18mm when measured with digital calipers. This NIB writes with a wet and smooth line – it is a fantastic nib to write with! The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Montblanc Blue-Black Ink. This is a fabulous Montblanc No. 146 LeGrand Fountain Pen in restored condition. I would grade this writing instrument in Near Mint to Mint Condition – this pen has been handled very little and the condition displays it. You have to ask yourself why pay over $800 for a brand-new Montblanc, like this one, at the Montblanc boutique stores when you can get a pre-owned one for significantly less that is authentic.
