This incredibly well preserved musical instrument made in 1840 by Nicolas Darche and labelled “Antonius Stradiuarius Cremonensis Faciebat Anno 1726” is a true gem. After his training in Mirecourt, Nicolas went to Brussels, working with N.F. Vuillaume, like several other members of the Darche family. He established his own shop in Aix-La-Chapelle around 1840 and this excellent vintage violin was crafted in France at the peak of his career. It features a beautiful combination of high quality maple and spruce for the body material, which produces an excellent tone with lots of color that is silky, balanced, full, rich, dark, powerful but not too bright, and is very playable. This violin is perfect for top notch professionals. This beautiful, masterfully made 1726 Stradivarius model is as close as you’ll get to a real Strad without breaking the bank. It has an impressive aesthetic and sound that adds to its uniqueness, is perfect for any performance and is sure to impress fellow musicians. High quality craftsmanship and a COA from Daniel Bruckner, guarantees provenance and makes this a must-have for any performer or collector. You know this great violin will truly satisfy for many generations to come. I acquired the Darche in August of 2002 and recently spent $1400 to have the neck angle adjusted, which included a new bridge. After evaluating the work professionally completed at Ifshin Violins in the San Francisco Bay Area, I feel it noticeably improved the playability, balance and sound quality of this very fine musical instrument. Although I’ve loved this violin for the last 22 years, it’s time for you to fall in love and enjoy this exquisite example of one of the finest violins ever made.
