Marshall JCM800 Miniature Custom Prototype Tube Amplifier Drake Prototype Made in USA Sacramento’s madman boutique amp builder, John MacCormack of Mack Amplification, has always been an avid aficionado of Marshall designs. He believed he could create equivalent amplifiers in a more compact design reminiscing of Leo Fender’s building methods. This is one of his prototype experiments that he gave to me. I recently took this to my amp tech ( Oct. 2024 ) and he did not care to work on it and said it’s a bit complicated without knowing the actual build of the amplifier. The capacitors are leaking in places and need to be changed. On the chassis there is an empty tube socket that was not being used in the amplifier design. He believes there is a 50 watt Drake 784-139 output transformer but there is no engraved numbers to confirm that. Our amp tech does not want to power it on and advises it should be looked at by a professional before attempting. This is a prototype JCM800 in a miniaturized version.
