You are bidding on one iron or blade or cutter for a Keen Kutter wood block plane as pictured. It is marked with “E C SIMMONS KEEN KUTTER” in their usual logo. This would be for a plane similar to a Stanley 9-1/2, with the center slot and the notches on the back side for the adjuster. Both Stanley and Ohio Tool were known to make planes for Keen Kutter, and my guess based on appearance and the number of notches (10) is that this was made by Stanley. But that is a guess! Width of the iron is about 1-5/8″, and overall length is about a 32nd over 4-3/16″. There is about 1-1/16″ between the sharp edge and the bottom of the slot. Condition is good, with some modest patina (color), some scattered faint pitting, and a few grinding marks on the back side. Boldly marked! The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it’s not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20″ long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30″ long, because those longer packages won’t fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights. I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item.
