The serial number under the console is the same serial number that is on the box. Interesting. Fascinating. MIND Blowing!!!! Brain bits everywhere! And they are hell to clean up. Thanks Sony! Ridge Racer included as a bonus. But don’t start thinking that is the norm or to be expected. Your welcome! As for the Sony Playstation CIB lister here, it was purchased at the end of April, 1997 at a KB Toys stores at the ACM. With Tenka because I really wanted Disruptor but made a mistake thinking I was getting Disruptor. I don’t know, KB had all their games behind the counter and I couldn’t even really see the covers that well. No wonder Sega said KB had to wait to get Sega Saturns. And where is KB now? I also picked up NBA In the Zone II. Or was it 97? Or maybe it was NBA Shootout 97? EIther way, I got a basketball game cause they looked awesome at the time, and I wanted to see what another company besides EA and Sega could do with basketball. EA and Sega both really struggled with basketball at the beginning of the 32-bit era. But in the next generation, Sega Sports said to EA Sports this is how you make a Football game, a Basketball game, a Hockey game, a Baseball game, a friggen Tennis game, and in the late 90s Sega’s World Series Soccer had some amazing gameplay that I don’t think people realize, or EA’s FIFA was ever really able to emulate. But then EA went back to the drawing board and finally made a great Baseball game. Then Sega sold their sports divisions to 2K Games, 2K Games called it 2K Sports, and 2K Games locked up the Third Party exclusivity contract for baseball and EA could never make a baseball game again. Then after EA was beat in the Video Game Football Super Bowl by Sega in 2005, EA made sure no one else would ever make an NFL Football game again. And they locked up the contract for football. And after EA dominated hockey forever, Sega was “The Great One” for many years in the early 2000s. But since the NHL, unlike the NFL or MLB, understood that having more NHL games out there by different companies was going to make you more money than just one company making one hockey game would, EA really had to work to get back on top. Really alls it took was for one genius over at EA to figure out that they could make the right thumbstick act like it is the hockey stick and you could have realistic and ultimate control of the puck. Amazing! Fantastic! That was a lot of work for EA however. It took a lot out of them. They just conceded basketball after that. EA said f@ck tennis! And of course, I also got Wild Arms with this Sony Playstation UN!!!. That was my precursor before the epic! Before the one! The pinnacle! But I must say that Wild Arms does somethings better than unarguably the mecca of 32 bit RPGs. Of course I am talking about Panzer Dragoon Saga….VII? And Dragon Force, Magic Knight RayEarth, Dark Savior, and Shining Force III are just the beez knees as well. Besides the best RPG on the original Playstation is the underrated Chrono Cross. I never really got to play much of it but I did watch my cousin play a good portion of it, and I could tell it was fantastic, jusy a fantastic, game at the time. But this Playstation’s favorite game was Gran Turismo. Aahhhh yes, Gran Turismo, the pinna…ya ok, bullshit, it was and still is Final Fantasy VII! What do you think? I played at least 3, or 2.5, or 3 and 3 quarter runs of Final Fantasy VII on this PS. One run was in the 130 hour mark. The second run was like in the 60 hour mark and I managed to get everything in a fraction of the time, and max level even faster. Then I went to play a third run to do it even faster but somehow managed a run in 200 hour or so mark, somehow I seemed weaker, much weaker, than I was in ther other runs. And I wasn’t even close to max level before Sephiroth and the “Ultimate” Weapons started talking shit and egging me on. Something simply wasn’t right here. And you know what? Final Fantasy VII sucks! Final Fantasy VIII has superior graphics and gameplay, and a cool ass card game. And Final Fantasy IX is superior to both of those! And Terra rules! Final Fantasy VI Forever!!!!! FOREVER!!!!! We did not have the original foam inserts that went with this Playstation console so I went about building a cardboard insert to hold the console, discs, and manual. Guess I got a little carried away and built a Playstation case. It is not perfect by any means. On close inspection there are many rough spots. It does it’s job however and holds the console and the other items quite well. The velcro does hold the cover down well but I wouldn’t trust it to walk around with just the case and the Playstation inside. The point of this case is to fit inside the console box. The handle was built in to make it easier to pull it out of the box and place it back in. However, I did test it, walking around, and skipping, a lot, down the neighborhood, and the Playstation did not fall out. But I am sure if I tried, I could of made it fall out. Now, if you remember the previous listing for this, you will notice that the case, or rather, the console box insert, may have changed a little. Well Playstation went to war. With whom you ask? Well, it was the mid 90s, so they went to war with Sega and Nintendo. And won of course. What do you expect? Sony just wanted a little piece of the game console industry. First they worked with, or were allowed to work with Nintendo tech, and built an SNES Playstaton prototype. A “Nintendo CD” if you will. Looked promising. No, please, Nintendo don’t let anyone get a piece of THEIR, and no one else’s, pie. Then some really genius businessmen, a fellow by the name of Tom over at Sega of America, and some other’s at SCEA, had the brilliant idea to partner up and build a killer 32-bit monster and take Nintendo, the juggernaut, head on. But no the Morons of Japan aka Sega of Japan did not want to share a platform with Sony. Why should they? Hmm, I wonder why you should Sega? Where is your platform now?And do I need to name the other companies? No. None of them NEEDED or really WANTED Sony. Well, Sony went to the drawing board, and got equipped. Real equipped. They then kicked names, asses, emerged from the grasses, and took everyone to classes. A schooling. Last I checked, Sony Interactive Entertainment, formerly Sony Computer Entertainment, is currently the top gaming company on the planet. Maybe I’m wrong. But I’m not. I used to loathe Sony Playstation. Not cause the original Playstation, or following Playstations, were bad consoles. Some of the greatest games, and my favorite games, were on the Playstation platform. I guess it is because I grew up such a Sega fan, looked forward to the Saturn so much, loved the Saturn, and I couldn’t stand that here comes Sony and their Playstation, with better 3D, but the 2D chops sucked, and kicks its ass. Nintendo as well. NES made me a gamer. The Super NES was the stuff of my dreams before I had one in my hands. From then on, I was hardcore gamer. That’s what I was known for. The Dreamcast was the same as the Saturn. Eagerly anticipated it. Loved it. Then here comes PS2, with its lack of anti-aliasing early, graphics and games subpar to Dreamcast initially, and everyone is all PS2, PS2, what is a Dreamcast? Sony pretty much kicked Sega out of the console industry. Nintendo survived because they stuck to their famous franchises and innovation. And handheld gaming of course. But now it looks like Sony is kicking Microsoft out of the gaming industry. Making this insert for the original Sony Playstation Console Complete In Box, seeing it go to war, and how formidable it was, and realizing why it was going to war, gave me so much respect for the Sony Playstation platform. And I salute Sony for respectfully going to their fellow Japanese gaming companies to try to get into the gaming console industry. Then when getting turned down by each of them, they decided to take matters into their own hands, do it themselves, and kicked major ass. The case, or console box insert, or rather, the Playstation Logos on said console box insert may look roughed up, and definitely look like they have been to war. And they have been. But the Playstation case, or rather, the Playstation console box insert, came out way more rugged, and most importantly, way more functional, than it was before.
