One in series of US Postal Cards, all in the “3 Bar Precancel Format” issued from 1971 – 1985. Included in the series were: Paul Revere, John Hanson, Samuel Adams, Charles Thomson, John Witherspoon, Caesar Rodney, Nathan Hale, John Hancock, Isaiah Thomas, Robert Morris, Charles Carroll, and George Wythe. “Mint” – No added printing or addresses. Unused. Unsevered. Never folded. Entire card as sold by the USPS. Sold as two unsevered, unfolded, identical cards, one for the message, and one for the reply. Flat, unfolded dimension = 5 ½ x 7 inches. These cards have been stored since purchased direct from the Post Office in 1978. They have never been folded, and have been stored flat. They are in fresh condition and have been kept in low humidity and air-conditioning. The appearance of each card may vary as to brightness and contrast of the ink. This may vary from side to side of the same card. There are no markings on the cards except for marks or stray printing ink that may have occurred during the manufacturing and printing process. Scott Catalog Value is for folded cards. The Scott Catalog describes unsevered cards that have never been folded as selling for a premium. When compared with the regular production paid reply postal cards from 1968 to date, this particular card catalogs for a substantially higher price. The 2010 Scott Specialized Catalogue listed UY29 at $7.50 unused, unsevered and severed, folded. The United Postal Stationery Society (UPSS) catalog value for an unfolded UY29, mint condition is $12.00. Scott Catalogue Number UY29, paid reply postal card.
