Vintage – RARE – WWII Ike Jacket w/Embroidered Patches, Entire Uniform, with tie, no shoes. This is a beautiful specimen of a veteran’s uniform, with a few unusual irregularities. Every unit patch on the Ike jacket is a beautiful example of embroidered unit patches, including the Meritorious Unit Citation on the lower sleeve. In my limited capacity, I don’t recognize where they were made. I can’t tell if they are English made or Italian, and I don’t think they are German made, although the 7th Corps and 3rd Army ended up in Germany. Part of the mystery of this particular uniform is that the dress shirt has an 85th Inf Div patch on, and that unit mostly fought in Italy, with the 2nd Corps in Mark Clark’s 5th Army. So how does someone who fought in Italy end up in two different higher units, stationed in Germany after the war?? Also, look closely at the Cpl stripes on the Ike jacket sleeves – Does it look like there were SSgt stripes on before, and were taken off and the two-stripes added? How would a SSgt be demoted so low? What did he do?? I thought someone cobbled parts of uniforms together but the jacket and shirt have the same laundry mark on them. The pants are also included on the hanger, but they have a different name on them, but that could’ve happened in the barracks on the last day, who knows? But the jacket an shirt are for the same person, just odd units. If you have any ideas, please let me know so I can update the limited info I have.
